Excellent academic centre where I did fellowship under Dr. Jacob Varghese. The op was catering to about 20 patients per day and .the emphasis was stressed on complete evaluation and working up of the patients .patients were having mainly degenerative arthroses and ligament injury/articular problems seeking joint replacement and arthroscopy. Patients with previous replacement surgery / arthroscopy surgery were followed up for proper rehabilitation I Learned and performed primary total knee and total hip replacement utilizing latest techniques and equipments in state of art operation theatre. Assisted a wide variety of revisions in knee and hip arthroplasty and several primary total shoulder and hemi shoulder replacements.Diagnostic and therapeutic knee and shoulder scopy procedures including anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, meniscectomy/meniscal repair, bankarts repair, subacromial decompression and scopic assisted cuff repair were learned durning this period I was exposed to pelvis and acetabular fracture fixation including percutaneous illiosacral screw and combined anterior, posterior fixation of both column pelvic fractures I undertook the trauma duty every 4th day during which emergency management of fracture including external fixation and internal fixation were carried out.Performed various audits and presented regularly on various academic clubs
This is a tertiary level medical college hospital and referral centre with 12 orthopaedic surgeons.About 150 patients are attended to every week over 2 op days.majority of them are having joint problems for which my expertise in joint replacement and arthroscopy goes a long way in managing their symptoms.minor procedures like examination under local anaesthesia ,steroid injections, wound dressings, and plaster applications are done in the opd itself Every week over 2 theatre days, I regularly perform primary knee and hip replacements as well as knee and shoulder arthroscopic reconstructions.Arthroscopic procedures like anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, meniscal repair/debridement, bankarts repair and rotator cuff repair are performed .Routine trauma includes nailing and plating of long bones.Less commonly pelviacetabular reconstructions, knee and hip revision arthroplasties are performed Weekly one 24 hr trauma duty is carried out during which emergency cases are evaluated and emergency procedures are performed including external fixation of long bones, pelvic external fixation and long bone nailing
